California sucks... vent over short-term disability
ggggrrrrrr
i'm ready to punch a hole in the wall... but then, security will be called and it will get awkward.
dealing with the state and their short-term disability system is a total PITA!!!!
it only took me 3 hours of calling and fiddling on their website and calling and calling and calling... to FINALLY get ONE PIECE of information.
i was so frustrated, i cried... bitter, angry tears full of frustration. i have a feeling someone is going to have an adult beverage when she gets home from work, today!

they do... BUT...
if you live in the lovely state of california, you HAVE to involve them in the process. if the state denies you or doesn't pay as much as my employer pays, then my employer's plan picks up the tab or the balance.
from what i've been told, CA, is the ONLY state in the union to include this extra layer of complexity.

You're not alone ,I live in NY, work for a HUGE multi billion dollar company and they don't offer any STD.
None. Zero. Zilch.
My whole maternity leave was unpaid. ( I had not pto yet since i just started there)

Your private disability company should be able to help you. In NY I didn’t have to do anything with the state. The private company did all the paperwork for me. But at the very least they should be able to help with questions etc.
