What could this mean?

DS had a 2 hour nap. Of course 80% of it was spent in light sleep but anways he got up in two hours. Now it's been an hour since he's been up. Could he be tired already??? His morning nap was an hour and a half and the afternoon was 2. Or could he just be doing it because it's something babies do at this stage. He is 4 months old!

sometimes if the baby is going through a growth spurt or teething he or she will sleep more than usual.

His eyes are half opened half closed and the slightest and I do mean the slightest noise will wake him. DH and I were whispering in the room and he got up cuz he was sleeping lightly.

I can't tell for sure if he really is teething. He does drool a lot and his hands are always in his mouth but I've heard that all babies do that and that it doesn't necessarily mean that it's because they are teething.

Please don't take this the wrong way but.... maybe try leaving the room?

Perhaps, if he is a "light" sleeper he is more interested in what mom and dad are doing rather than sleeping. Forget a whisper... I bet he can even smell your presence.

If Aidan ever had trouble going down it was because he was too interested in what I was doing. He simply needed to be left alone to fall and stay asleep all on his own....

And no peeking, he's obviously way too smart... you WILL get caught. He'll let you know when he needs you.

Matthew doesn't have trouble going down, it's the staying asleep that's the problem. He spends about 80% of all his sleep time in the light sleep mode.

He still needs assistance falling asleep though. He'll suck the paci but he moves around so much with his arms and legs that he just doesn't settle down enough to suck it. Eventually he does settle. At four months he should be holding to it but doesn't have the knack to really hold on to things. Maybe as he gets older it will change?

Luka is 6 months old and still dont hold on to his paci to well at all, he actually plays more with then anything. I wouldnt try forcing it holding it their. He needs to learn to fall asleep on his own and if that means moving around then let him move around, their is nothing wrong with it. Babies need to learn to self soothe and now is the perfect time to start if you can because this is when they start to develope sleep habits.
