House alarm in cold weather
Does anyone have problems with their house alarm when it's cold outside and in the house? We keep the heat very low downstairs at night and I'm wondering if we should raise it.

Re: House alarm in cold weather
No, not at all. What would the weather have to do with the alarm system?

No, I have alarms on my garage door, so it gets extremely cold in there and nothing is different from my indoor alarms.

Re: House alarm in cold weather
Ok good to know. Our alarm went off in the middle of the night and the alarm company said they were getting a lot of alarm going off because of the weather

High winds might set it off, but I can't see how cold itself would

Maybe the cold temps make door/window joints shrink and that makes the contacts juuuust far enough apart for the alarm system to consider the door/window as open.

Yes. It's not working right now. Keeps beeping (like when you open the door). I couldn't set the alarm. Have to call the alarm company.

Yep, this can happen.
