What time for a birthday party on MLK day?
I am having my DD 7th birthday party on MLK day, which is a Monday I am off from work and the kids are off.
I know some people will not be off work and I am actually OK and want people to say no. Our list is way to big that I need people to not come
I am not doing during the day cause I feel more people will probably say yes plus my DH is not off, he will just leave work early that day.
Party is an hour and half to 2 hours long. So do you think a 5:10 start time is OK. Or should I move it to about a 4ish start time?

I think if you do it at 5:10 more people might be able to make it as it's closer to the end of the work day.

I'd leave it at 5:10... I don't find that to be too late.

my fear originally for this time it was too late and my fear for 4ish was that more people would be able to come but you theroy makes sesese too.
What I really need to do is just cut the list down but I just feel so bad not inviting her whole class. I would hate anyone to feel left out!!

You also have to remember that these kids are somewhere/with someone if their parents are working. They may very easily be able to get a ride to the party. I just had my kids bday party at 4pm on election day, every single kid that was invited came except for 2 that were on vacation.

you are scaring me there are 45 people on her list.(this includes her whole class, fmaily and friends not in her class) I had that many last year about I ended up with about 23 or so which was fine but it was also on a Friday night at 5:30 some never even responded.
Do you invite the whole class?

What time for a birthday party on MLK day?
If I was you I would not invite more people than you actually want to come. I had my dd's party on Columbus day (also a Monday when schools are closed) and every kid who was invited except for 1 came. Meanwhile, I had asked on here if that was a good day to have a party, and most people who responded to my post said "expect a lot of no's". So really there's no real way of knowing how many people will come or not. What i would do, since you have plenty of time before the p party, is have an A list and a B list. Send out the first batch of invites earlyand give an early RSVP date. Then, based on how many people RSVP yes, send out more invites to the "b list" if need be, or dont if you already have too many people coming to the party.

see my problem is my DD is probably closer to boys but def is close to some of the girls too!! I may just have to have her pick and only invite those and get over feeling bad.

I was probably one of those people I don't have off Columbus day so depending the time it would have been hard for me to get her there. I probably could ask my dad to take her but that would have been a 50/50 chance of him even saying yes to do that. I got a great deal on her party so going over the amount I paid wouldn't be that big of deal but I can't have 46 I have to see if the place will even accommodate that I guess I am just going to have to cut people or do what you said.

As long as she isn't handing them out in school or making a big deal about it you don't have to invite the whole class. We certainly never got invites from everyone in her classes so I am assuming she wasn't invited to all classmate's parties either. And I never really thought twice about it

I don't know anyone off on MLK day. I would have to decline a party no matter what time and so would everyone else I know. So you will likely get a bunch of no's so don't worry!
We got WAY more yesses for my DD's party than I expected (weekend but around the holidays) and I'm having a heart attack because it's $25 per kid so I feel ya!

Before you send out invites you should definitely find out the max amount of guests allowed. I think where I had my dd's party it was 20, and we were really close to that. 46 is a huge guest list for a kid's party!
