If you don't take your job's healthcare

I take my healthcare through my husband's job.

My job requires me to sign a waiver stating that I was offered health insurance, yet declined.

However, they also want the company and member id number for the insurance I do have.

What are your thoughts on this?

I never had to do that.
I take DH's insurance too. Because I decline my job's insurance they give me $50 a paycheck for not taking it.
But I never had to 'prove" I was insured through someone else.
But is this because of law that everyone has to have insurance?
I would imagine that is why?

I had to do this as well when I got married and took DH's insurance.

Also my job does not give me any $ for not taking their insurance, but it would be nice.

LOL. I think that is why they don't ask me either.
Plus they pay me $50 a check to not take it. Because I am saving them a HELL of a lot more than $100 a month by not taking their insurance!

I think I was just put off by them needing the actual policy number. I'm not sure why I need to prove to my job's healthcare that I have alternate healthcare

I believe, and don't quote me because I'm not really in the know on this, that it has to do with the ACA and the law that everyone has to have health insurance.
So I guess they need to make sure you are actually insured to prove to the government in case of an audit or something.

Yeah, I had to provide the same thing. It actually (if I remember correctly) ended up showing up on my 1095-B from my job.

ETA - We actually renew our policy at work on 12/1.. I looked at the updated waiver of coverage form and it has the same line again regarding providing the name of the carrier and policy number.

Mine won't cover spouses if they have access to other insurance AND they ask for the policy #.

I'm going to be working to cover DH's insurance because it is astronomical.....
