this suppose covers all their visits vs getting charged $80 if they deem its not their equipment etc
I think is $7.00 extra a month

You have to call them to your house more than once a year (and it has to not be an equipment problem) for it to be a good financial idea.

Yes, of course. But paying them 7 dollars a month for that doesn't make it cheaper unless you have them come TWICE or more a year, and both of those times it ISN'T an equipment issue.
You're better off taking 7 dollars a month and putting it under your mattress. If they need to come, use that money to pay them. If you're calling them more than once a year for wiring issues, you should pay someone (not cablevision) to run new interior wires for you once and for all and stop paying them every single month and year.

Re: just wondering how many people are paying for Optiumums protection plan
I am in the middle of a dispute with Optimum over the $80 fee I was charged. They are reviewing the call because the rep NEVER told me there was an appointment fee or the option to pay $6.99 for a monthly plan. My blood pressure is skyrocketing just thinking about it. Anyway- the rep I spoke with said she doesn't recommend people pay the $6.99. I agree with the pp, I would put it under my mattress before giving that shady company another penny! And side note- as of 11/1 they now charge $4.95 plus tax/month if you have their modem. If you do, send it back and buy one at best Buy for like $40.
ETA- they credited me the $80!
