At home hair dye
I can't put it off anymore. I'm 40 and officially need to start dying my hair. My hair is dark brown, thin, curly (and frizzy). Whats a gentle, easy to use dye for me to do at home?

Re: At home hair dye
i tried madison reed for the first time (they are advertising everywhere)
i like it better than the regular box dye. it's easy, doesn't smell or burn, and comes with gloves and hair cap

I tried Madison Reed too. The dye seemed good, the stuff included was nice, and I like the subscription service.

At home hair dye
Does anyone have an issue with brown dye turning red? I've had to dye my hair to cover gray, but it always ends up red-and I get it fone at a salon. I miss my pretty shade of brown ??

Yes it can happen. you should let the colorist know so they can make corrections with the base. I believe it has to do with the hair's natural underlying pigment.

This. I do a single process dark brown and it picks up the red undertones in my hair. I like it, the way my gray hair picks up the dye and the red undertones, my hair color has depth without having to do highlights.

Same here! It looks like I have natural highlights. I've tried every dye known to man and I keep coming back ironically to the cheapest one, revlon colorsilk. It always covers the grays and I find the color lasts longer than others I've tried.

Yep - the last time I dyed my hair brown at a salon, I had to go back and have it re-done because it was reddish - and on myself, I hate reddish. Annoying when this happens.
