RSVP question

If someone rsvps by text message or e-mail to a party you're throwing, do you write back to them so they know you got their message? Just anything, like "ok" or "Great"? Twice this week I rsvped by text to 2 different parties and heard nothing back. So I'm probably over thinking it, but now I wonder if either they didn't get the message and think I didn't respond and will be surprised/annoyed when we show up at the parties...or is it normal to just not respond to someone saying they'll come to your party?

I'm throwing a party soon and have been getting text RSVPs...I always reply so they know that I've received it.

Re: RSVP question

Me personally I ALWAYS reply to a text. Regardless of what it is.
You can text me, "You are an asshole."
And I will reply with- "no you are! "
Chat Icon

But yes, when people RSVP I always respond. I'm super anal about it.
And in general everyone responds to me when I text an RSVP.

But some people, I have found, have awful texting etiquette in general

It's a pet peeve of mine actually

I always answer a text back but not everyone does (which I find semi-annoying).

Re: RSVP question

I just had this issue. I did not get a reply and in this case, it was someone I did not know that I was RSVPing too. I almost called again just to make sure, but I spoke to a family member and they said I was accounted for.

Super annoying, I simple quick reply would have been appreciated lol

Re: RSVP question

The host should definitely acknowledge the text. It's rude not to. The attendee is left wondering if their rsvp was received. People always complain guests are rude with the rsvps, but in this instance the host is rude for not rsvping to the rsvp lol.

Re: RSVP question

I am the RSVP for a party we are having; and I respond to the texts.

I would feel weird not to.

Ugh, I texted again a couple hours ago and still haven't heard back. Lol, so now I'm wondering if I have the right number.

RSVP question

i had to do this recently because i didn't know the person and never got a response. i sent a second text saying, just want to make sure you got my RSVP. it was enough of a hint for them to then reply. maybe they are busy at work? double check the number and if it's correct, assume they got it. what else can you do.

I just got an error message after sending the 2nd text, so it didn't go thru for some reason. I just called and left a message. Hoping they get that!

Re: RSVP question

I think it’s rude to not respond to a text regardless of what it’s about.

Re: RSVP question

I hosted 2 large parties recently, and everyone who rsvp-ed by text or email I replied to. I replied to a shower recently by text, and the person did not text me back.

Re: RSVP question

I always respond. Texts aren't guaranteed to get to the recipient, so without an acknowledgment, you're not positive they got it.

Re: RSVP question

I always respond and I've been doing it this way for the last 4 years. For my kids' bday I'll write something like J is excited that XYZ will be helping him celebrate or something like that depending on what person wrote in rsvp text. I try to keep a personal aspect to text rsvps.

I think it's extremely rude to not respond back to someone if they are RSVPing to your event. Whether it's a yes or a no.

I ALWAYS respond to texts. ALWAYS. I can't stand when I text someone an RSVP or random message and it's dead air. I find it rude.

RSVP question

I am horrible at texting back...most of the time I compose a text response in my head, but never actually send it and forget that I didn't send it. But even I would acknowledge an rsvp!
