dermatographia? Anyone have this?

Since Saturday, I have been incredibly itchy. I find that when I itch I am left with hives and get even more itchy. I've done research and have found something called dermatographia. This is exactly what I have. I recently moved to new area and wont be seen as a new patient for 2 weeks. Does anyone have this? What caused it and is there a cure?

Can you go to a STAT Health or walk in?
2 weeks is ridiculous?
Why are you being punished for being a "new" patient.
That is bullshitt to me

Re: dermatographia? Anyone have this?

Have you tried taking benadryl or applying it topically to stop the itch ?

Is your skin dry, did you change detergents or soap recently, anything that could irritate your skin ?

To answer a few questions:

I went to the CVS minute clinic we have here in SC, useless. She told me take benadryl and gave me a steroid cream.

Benadryl helps, but if I even scratch my skin, I welt or hive up. Causing the itching to spread.

I have not changed anything that I use or put on my skin.

I was on Macrobid, for a UTI. Stopped taking it a week ago though, this started Saturday.

Side effect from the meds probably....google and see if it's a common problem

I have a mild case according to my allergist. When I scratch my skin, a red line appears in the spot and lasts for like 15 minutes. I don't know what causes it. I always had it and its never gone away. It isn't itchy though.

Re: dermatographia? Anyone have this?

Try topical benadryl on just the itchy spots- it comes in gel form.
Just don't take an oral pill too.

Maybe med side effect. I'm not a medical professional, but I'd say drink a lot of fluids to flush thru your system.
