Best Assemblies you've seen or heard of
Hi moms! Going to be chairing assemblies for 2017-18 for my son's elementary school. If you or your child has seen something amazing or different and fun please let me know or message me. We have ours booked for this year so I'll start looking into it for next year. I have never done this before. LOL! THe PTA Pres has been helpful with advise and some info, but figured I'd go outside the box and see what else there is that's fun, educational, and different.
Thanks!!

cultivatekindness.org It's a local dad that does speaking engagements--they created a kindness movement after the tragic loss of their 2yr old (for younger children they do not make any mention of the child's passing). He also wrote a book!

Do you live on LI? I vaguely remember that you don't. But, if you do, the Sweetbriar Nature center comes to the schools. We've had a lot of authors of children's books come, they read their book, then the kids can purchase an autographed copy. The Harlem Wizards came this week. But, that's usually in conjunction with an upcoming Harlem Wizards basketball game fundraiser in the school. I know they go all over, and the kids love it.

No. WE're in NJ, but some places do travel to the tristate area. The Harlem Wizards would be separate from what I do. That's an after school fundraiser. Thanks!

The best educational one was a company that came in to teach about the holocaust. The kids built a replica of the walls of the Warsaw ghetto that took up our entire gym, and they had a survivor speak

Would love that, but this is 1st - 5th graders so that may be a little deep for them. We just had an assembly about character building and was silly while educational learning about being yourselves and working together against bullies. This one would be amazing for Middle School though. Dec we are doing a laser show. Was thinking bubble show or something.

Our school did Eric Dasher's Brain Wash a couple of years ago. It's a game show on school topics and the kids participate as contestants by grade level. They all had a blast. I'm pretty sure he has a website.

That sounds awesome! Is this something for the whole school or just for the grades? Only bc we do usually 2 separate assemblies. 1 - 3grades and 4 - 5 grades so want to make sure it's something fun for all the kids to enjoy.

We have done this a few times at Rocking Horse Ranch! They separate by grade when they call them up to play, so this would be perfect. 1st, 2nd, 3rd for three rounds, then 4 and 5 at the next assembly for 2 rounds.

They just did this at my son's school and he really liked it. He's in 1st grade. (Of course, I knew the story already and I spilled the beans about the background and then I had to answer 5,000 questions which was pretty awful. I really need to master the art of thinking before I speak.)
He also did something called the Brain Gym or maybe it was the Brain Wash a PP mentioned. He loved that too
