Help me find DD a winter coat!
Where do you get your children their winter coats? DD would need a size 4-5. I want something that is warm but won't interfere with her car seat straps. Lots of the jackets I see online look super "poofy" which I don't want. Lands End and L.L. Bean have lots of options but I'd rather some personal recs! Thanks!

We always use the Lands End Squall. It's thin but well insulated and warm

Are they okay to wear with the 5 point harness straps of a car seat? How do you feel they are with sizing/fit? DD wears a size 4 in street clothes but I was thinking of ordering a size up -- I'd like to get more than one season out of it but also don't want it to be massive on her.

Definitely get the size up- she has worn hers for going on 3 seasons now! LOL As far as the car seat, it's not terribly thick like a puffer coat, but if you want to get technical you really shouldn't have anything thicker than a fleece on them in the car seat so you should still take it over and cover her with it or put it on backwards over the straps once she is strapped in.

I wouldn't use any coat in a carseat unless it's a thin fleece. Warm your car up and turn the heat on. I don't even like driving with a winter coat on. Too restricting. I can't imagine how kids with big heavy jackets sitting in carseats, unable to move, feel!

This is why I like the 3 in 1s. You can slip the shell off in the car but they still have a thin fleece so they don't freeze. We've been getting the osh kosh ones the last few years and have been very happy with the quality.

We have the Lands End Stormer it's a 3in 1. They always have 40% off coupons so it's pretty reasonable.
Children's place also makes a nice 3 in 1.
For the car seat 3 in 1 is the way to go. Makes it easy.

Re: Help me find DD a winter coat!
For car seats we use Patagonia down jackets, they are super thin but keep the kids warm. This year we are trying the LL Bean version (they currently have a sale)
LL Bean Jacket
My kids have 3 coats for the fall/winter -
Fleece LIght weight down heavy for playing in the show
