Throwing out furniture
Moving by the end of this month and don't want anything I currently have. My bedroom set is pure solid wood. SO HEAVY. How do I go about in trashing it. I have 4 kids and don't have the time to give it away or list it. Some of the items are damage like the door broke of from our dresser. I'm sure if I put all the items outside someone will take it. But since it's heavy wood, I'm afraid Sanitation won't take it. Do I need to make an appointment to have these items picked up?

Re: Throwing out furniture
Where I live the garbage men take everything. If it's oversized they will call for a special truck or extra crew members but they have taken furniture, etc with no issues. Though a lot of times yes, it doesn't make it until the garbage men come - because people come at night and take it.

TOH you need to call for special pick up and they will let you know when to put to the curb.

Throwing out furniture
For something like that I would put it out after the last garbage pickup of the week (mine is Thursday). That gives people the whole weekend to possibly see it and pick it up. If it's still there and sanitation doesn't pick it up, I would call and ask. But mine also picks up everything!

Call for a special pickup. Or better yet, donate it!
