Behavior Chart
anyone use a behavior chart at home? My son is 4.
Im looking online and a lot of them involve chores which Im not so concerned about at this point....I just want to focus on good and bad behavior with maybe a reward at the end of the week?
any suggestions helpful!

Re: Behavior Chart
You can just get a calendar and some stickers.
Each day that he has what you determine to be good overall behavior, he gets a sticker on that day. At the end of the week of he has X many stickers, he gets a reward.
You can probably even print out blank calendar pages from Word or an online site so you don't even have to buy anything

Re: Behavior Chart
we tried a sticker chart - getting a sticker when they had a great behavior day and after 5 (or 10 - whatever amount we decided on) they got to go to the store and pick out something. That did not work.
In school, they used the red, yellow, green light method instead and DS seems to be doing really well with it. Every day he stays on green, he gets a sticker and when he gets enough stickers he gets a prize. I think just visually seeing how he is doing helps him.

Behavior Chart
We use a combination of different charts. We have a 1-10 chart for random good behavior, when he gets to 10 he gets to chose a prize, currently some cheap little lego guys I picked up. But is has also been m&m's. We also use a sticker chart for reading. Read 15 minutes m-f and get a sticker each day. At the end of the month he gets $5. We use a first, then method for day to day. First we do homework, then you get 10 minutes of wii. We use pictures and he can chose his reward.

There are tons of free prinables here and in various themes. They are blank so you fill in what you need to work on.

Re: Behavior Chart
I got DD all excited about the idea. She has this at school so it felt normal for her.
We went to dollar tree and bought a poster board. She decorated it with pictures and then she told me the rules (we have 4: no whining, no tantrums, listen and be nice).
She just puts check marks up. If she is really good she gets 2 checks. She's forgotten about the prizes.
She is really into this, we've been doing it almost 6 months but she loves it. I think it's the public display of how "good" she can behave. I prob would have stopped but she loves the routine of adding her check.
It's helped a lot with the whining/tantrums. She's a good kid but sometimes loses control of her emotions.
We are big about discussing choices. "Make a better choice". she's only had maybe 4? Days without a check. We do give a few warnings. We haven't done a time out in almost a year as she has been able to control herself.
When we do buy a prize, it's a $5 or under book.
This has worked well for us but all kids are different.

Re: Behavior Chart
Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I am going to make one myself. I like the Whining/Tantrums idea with the checks because this is my biggest issue...
