Annoying cough
My allergies are usually in high gear this time of year and I am finding that for the past few weeks I have this annoying cough. It's like a tickle in the back of my throat maybe or some kind of post nasal drip that is causing me to cough every few min.
I sometimes take benedryl at night but it seems to happen more when I do that... almost like the benedryl dries me up and I get that dry throat/nasal passage cough all night.
anything else you take for this? It's just soooo annoying

Ugh! Sorry, no advice, but I get that at least once a year and it lingers for weeks. I've tried a few allergy meds, but they don't really work. (Or I have a bad reaction and it makes me so wired I can't sleep at night). If you find any thing that works, let me know!

I use a prescription nose spray every day. It stops the drip.

Re: Annoying cough
Have you tried Flonase? This happened last year around this time for my kids and seems to be starting up again. I give them regular allergy medicine at night and Flonase at night. After a week, it was gone, and if I stopped the Flonase, it would come right back.

So the cough stopped on the Flonase? I have tried it when my allergies are awful, but right now they aren't awful, just the cough. But maybe I need to be more consistent with it. I am going to try it Thanks!

Yup. Take the Flonase. That should take care of it

I know you dont like the nose spray, but thats the answer for most folks. Its post-nasal drip.

Definitely Flonase - it helps a lot.
I have horrible allergies - so I take Mucinex too.

And it's not like I'm getting over a cold or being sick. In August I had a whopper of a summer cold/upper respiratory thing and after that I had a cough that lingered for over 2 weeks.
But now it's really just allergies I guess.
But I did the Flonase last night and so far, knock on wood, I haven't coughed that annoying cough all morning. So we'll see!

Re: Annoying cough
My son had a persistent dry cough with no other symptoms for a few months and the dr said to take Claritin once a day. After a couple of weeks, the cough practically went away.

Re: Annoying cough
It's crazy how rampant allergies are. Seems everyone I know has them, is on meds, has terrible symptoms. Strange how our bodies are attacking whatever the hell we are breathing in in our environment...
