Either male or female, I don't even get why this is an issue? I had one done years ago and saw a male MD. You are unconscious, so I don't really care. My mom is a GI nurse and she said they cover you up with a sheet anyway, so no one sees your butt. Nor would they care, they see 20 people a day!
Agreed. I had a male and never thought twice about it.

I had a male...the worst part about it was drinking that awful drink. I couldnt finish it. Good luck!!

100%!!I have Crohn's so I am no stranger to colonoscopies. It just matters that you have a good doctor. They literally do this all day so it's just another day at the office for them. The only awful thing is the prep. Yuck. But the drugs are fantastic lol. Best 10 seconds of your life and then you are out cold lol.

No preference - just go with a doctor you are comfortable with. I have both male and female doctors (had cancer so I see doctors more frequently than the gen pop) and I chose them based on their skill, their care, and how serious they took me and my diagnosis.

the gender of the person doing the procedure does not matter at all to me
do i get along with the person, do they have a good record/recommendation? do they listen?
those are things that matter to me
And for any procedure you have done, you are covered by a sheet while you're awake, there are usually several people in the room during the procedure, and you are 1 of many patients having the same thing being done just that day.. so i'm not sure what's to be uncomfortable about in regards to the dr's gender.. you could end up with a male nurse in the room too, would that be an issue?
the worse part is the prep and being chained to the toilet for a day beforehand.. if they found a way to eliminate that part of it, it would be quite a pleasant procedure! the drugs are lovely
