Flu shot during pregnancy
Asking for my friend- I think I got the flu shot when I was pregnant? I don't remember. She's due in October and questioning if she should get the flu shot? I'm 95% sure I did but she had read it's not safe to get in the 3rd trimester?

Yes!!!! It provides protection for the baby since he/she won't be eligible for the flu shot until next year.

Yep. It's a personal choice but she definitely can, even in the third trimester. I did since my ob strongly recommended it both for myself and the baby.

Flu shot during pregnancy
I absolutely got it during my third trimester. It passes the antibodies in utero to the baby to protect them. Especially since she's due during flu season. The baby will be too young to have a vaccine until 6 months and the flu is no joke in a newborn.

I know I got it when I was pregnant but I can't remember which trimester I got it in. I get the flu shot every year. I'm an elementary teacher and ::knock on wood:: I've never gotten the flu.

Thanks all! I looked back last night in my patient chart, I got it in my second trimester, I told her to ask her doctor about it!
On another note, my kids will be 9 months in October and my doctor is doing it in 1/2 doses- is that typical?

Yes. Their first time getting it it has to be given twice. Then when they get it again a year after and so on, it's just the one shot.

I asked my ped when preggo with my second. She suggested it in the third trimester only.
