Beaches T&C

Hi All,

If you booked, where/who did you book through?

Directly through the website?

My family are resort virgins, we usually cruise so we are not sure what the best course to book would be.

TIA!

Direct through the website. And even after booking i periodically check to see if other room categories have opened up, so we can save a little. I've already bumped down one category and saved 1k.

How do you bump down? I just booked today online but wanted to get something cheaper (in a cheaper category). Unfortunately , nothing was left so i booked what was left- a suite with a kids room in Italian Village.

You basically just have to check everyday. People cancel all the time. We were booked in a key west 1 bedroom concierge and changed to Caribbean 1 bedroom concierge. This is the lowest room category we will go, because we prefer a separate bedroom. We could have saved and additional 1000 (making it 2k) if we went with the Caribbean honeymoon concierge suite which does not have a separate bedroom. Also we are a family of 5 FYI.

Re: Beaches T&C

I cannot believe how expensive this place is...with airfare it would be 7K for a family of 4?

The place looks awesome, but that's just a lot more than we usually spend on vacations.

It's extremely expensive.
Extremely.
I know it has probably changed since I was there for a wedding in '04 but I thought it sucked back then.
Not even close to a 5 star resort for 5 star prices.
Food was horrible
Room was musty, beat up furniture, shower that didn't work, toilet that leaked
But everyone raves about it so I have to assume they renovated and changed since then

I know I have heard such great things - didnt realize the price tag that came along with it! I'm surprised the people I know are willing to spend that much for one week, but I suppose everyone spends their money in different ways. My kids are only 5 and 2, so i could see maybe when they are older and could really get more out of the experience? I dont know - we are going to take another cruise, just makes more sense financially and there is still a lot for the kids.

Go to Hawaii for that
This place is not all it's cracked up to be.
I am not even picky with food and I lost weight that week because the food was that bad.
They have balls charging what they charge.
Balls.
Or find a 5 star resort in the Caribbean (non all inclusive) and you'll still spend less overall

13 years ago is when you visited? Sorry you had such a sh1t time. I've been to a ton of places and have never been disappointed yet. Hoping that stays the same when we visit Beaches next year. I've only heard raves about this place from friends and co workers. There is also a special site while your visiting to voice compliments OR complaints or both. Issues are usually resolved asap. As with most reviews I read on any resort there's always some horrible reviews, which I take with a grain of salt. There's no pleasing everyone, all the time.

Yes I am sure they have upgraded since.
I am usually pretty easy to please and rarely complain or write a bad review. But it was soooo not worth the money they charged when we went. I was upset and felt ripped off. It did not have the feel I would expect for that kind of money.
Again I am sure they have renovated since and I have recently heard great things too....
