lunch container?

I bought DDs backpacks and matching lunch bags (Kindergarten)
What type of container do you like for their lunch inside? I see bento boxes and all different kinds, but I have no idea what is right for them...

lunch container?

think about what types of lunches he typically eats and what would be easy for him to open. my son is entering K as well. last year he used the rubbermaid lunch box and it worked well for him. he is able to open it himself. i didn't want anything expensive, in case it got lost or accidentally thrown away. it only has 2 compartments though. we pack snacks separately so it works for us.

I like the yumbox. I got the one with a compartment big enough for a full sandwich. It seals tightly but is easy to open. I'm not into buying individual packages so I like that can put everything in there with no packaging. I usually do a sandwich, yogurt, fruit, and a small treat in the tiny spot like a few teddy grahams or mini marshmallows.

Mine has never lost hers, but it is annoying to clean. Plus it's easier to pack veggies and dip and runny stuff into a container vs. a baggie. Plus, plastic bags are so bad for the environment Chat Icon

We use this! I love that it keeps their food cold and I can keep their stuff separate. We use a funtainer thermos for hot foods like mac n cheese, or soups.

Yup! A sandwich wrapped in foil
Those plastic things skeeve me...they get gross and to me there is no need.
She really only brings a sandwich or a bagel for lunch.
I'm not packing crudites and stuff like that.

Her lunch snack is usually a yogurt tube so I throw that in loose.

LOL to crudites!! I see all these posts of the lunches people send in for their kids. My kid would probably eat 10 bites at best of anything in his whole pail. Such a waste of food and money.

Same here! Lol sandwich and snacks go in a ziplock. Hot food goes in a thermos container. Other stuff like cut up fruit or yogurt topped with raisins go in a small tupperware.

Lol, happy to read this. I'm just hoping my DD will eat her lunch and not come home starving. I like the idea of yumbox and bentgo, but I'm worried it will get moldy.

In my experience things like that- even tupperware, rubbermaid etc- always get a smell.
No matter what you do, they smell bad after awhile.

I never thought I'd be a Bento box mom, but my son's daycare does not provide food, so I have to provide breakfast, lunch and snacks for all day. The easiest thing for me has been the Bentgo kids box. Like today he has pasta in the biggest opening, broccoli in one of the small ones, strawberries in another, grapes in another, and granola bites in the smallest compartment. That takes care of lunch and 1 snack. On the inside of his lunchbox I also packed a Tupperware of cheerios, half a banana and a yogurt.

Sandwich wrapped in foil and snacks in a zip lock though this year I think I am going to look for something to store the zip lock sacks in because the snacks tend to get crushed!
