what does dd need to fly domestically?
she has a passport so should I just bring that? or birth certificate?

If you have a passport, bring that. It's always better to have your passport.

Depends on her age:
under 18 - she needs nothing.
If she's flying as a lap child, bring the passport or birth certificate.

I would bring both just to be safe. We fly quite frequently and are rarely asked, but once they did ask us for DD's birth certificate. Thankfully we always bring a copy.

Per the TSA website children under 18 do not need any form of ID to fly domestically
If she is flying as a free lap child the airline might ask for proof of age though to make sure she is under the age to fly as a lap child

what does dd need to fly domestically?
I bring my daughters passport with us just in case. Even flying domestically. I know it's not needed but I feel like everyone should have ID on them regardless of age.

This - they don't always ask for proof for a lap child but, if they do and you don't have anything, it could be an issue.
