I was basically called stupid by my boss at work today

I was lumped in with 80 % of the team but I was pointed out as the example. 80% because the boss stated 80% of the people in this room....

this has been done to many of the employees at this office. I've never experienced such nastiness by a boss

I would feel embarrassed, I never do bc everyone knows how this person is. I think its a reflection on this person and not me. BUT for the first time I did feel a bit sad right after. I think I really hate this job :(

Anyone have a boss that behaved like this????

I just made it to my 5 yr mark, cancer free this past month. I dont need this type of stress!!!!

Well, I for one am sick of these "horrible bosses". Always stick up for yourself and don't let anyone treat you badly.! I can live with getting in trouble or fired for telling a nasty boss to go scratch. I can't live with being someone's punching bag. Sorry you are dealing with this, I get it

I'm so sorry. Sounds like a boss is a d-bag. I've had bosses like this in the past and you are right it is more a reflection on them. It's like a power trip. They need to belittle to make themselves feel better. Don't be mad, be sorry for him (I know, easier said than done). But helped me when I would think wow, what kind of pathetic miserable person would do these kind of things (when I had bosses like that). And yes, they were the ones who had the worst home lives.

Congrats on being cancer free! That's what's important. My friend once told me go tell him to suck a bag of dicks. I kept laughing. And then forever when I would see him in a meeting that was all I could think of. One time I was daydreaming thinking of that and smiling and he was like what are you so happy about? It almost came out. I just said oh I try to be a happy person. Life is too short to be miserable so the little time I have on this planet I'd like to enjoy. Lol. He didn't know what to say and just kept grumbling on.

Oh man, that sucks. I'm sorry. Not a boss, but I had someone at work talk so down to me and I was just mortified.
I can't get on board with an adult speaking like that to another adult. It's really uncalled for.

eta : A boss that has to belittle his staff has insecurities about his own performance. It's not the right management style, it creates an overall bad attitude. I'd file a complaint with HR, they need to be aware of what this jackass is doing. Take along someone else from your group, strength in numbers.

I work in a place of low morale and male Japanese bosses. I basically have a I don't give a hoot about my job attitude, I do my job, nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't get me anything extra. The only thing that has kept me here for 23 years is the salary and the benefits, and that the bosses rotate out every 5 years. I can tolerate a jackass for that long before a new one comes in.
My current chief jackass just got reassigned, and I know and like his replacement. Much better management style.

As for the boss, I'd start looking for a new job and in the meantime, I'd send him a glitter bomb or a bag of dicks, just to ruin his day and make you laugh. But seriously, people who belittle people on a regular basis are disgusting people, so try not to let anything they say bother you.
