children and parties
with a few of us planning milestone birthday parties, i got to thinking and wondering.
how many of you did adult only parties? how do you put that in the invitation?
there aren't a lot of kids on my guest list, so i haven't had to deal with this, but i got a little curious.

Re: children and parties
As a mother of younger kids, I always look at the envelope to see who it's addressed to, in order to determine whether my children are invited. Also, an evening party would definitely elicit a stringer assumption that it's grown-ups only.

I also look at the envelope. If it's just addressed to Me & DH then I assume it's no kids.

You'd think this is common sense right? We know how common sense goes! So many people are clueless or pretend to be and think it means their kids and their pets must also be invited.

I would go by the names listed on the envelope.
But DD's name could be on the envelope 5 times and I still wouldn't bring her to an evening party. That's what babysitters are for.

Re: children and parties
I sent out an evite and put something like "no gifts necessary, save the money for the babysitter" LOL!
For most parties we were told "adults only." Last year was a lot of 40th parties and I got mostly evites that said it's for adults. We had a few family ones during the day.

We were recently invited to a party with an invitation that read:
Bring your wife, girlfriend, husband, boyfriend, mistress, or mister...just don't bring your kids
