Anaheim/LA

A quick trip, 4 full days, plus 2 days for travel. We would be staying with family, so we don't need a hotel. The trip will fall over the weekend, so on Saturday & Sunday we will hang out with family and do stuff by their house, which is about 30 min. outside of Anaheim. We are looking for stuff to do Friday & Monday, while they are at work. We fly in on Thursday, and fly home on Tuesday. Should we do 1 day Disneyland, 1 day California Adventure? Or just choose 1 park for 1 day, and do something else the other day? Our kids range from 1-6. If we should just do one day in Disney, which park is better? Any fun ideas for the 2nd day? TIA! I know Disneyland is better if you are only choosing one. If i had two days, I would do two parks.

I posted on your other post, but I will share my link to the photos I took (a TON of them Chat Icon)....so you can see just how amazing Cars Land is!

link

and if you are a Walt Disney fan.....take a peek above the fire house on main street when you walk in. That's Walt's original apartment where he would bring his family, and they leave the lamp lit for him Chat Icon

That's really because most of the pics are from first thing in the morning when there was hardly anyone there yet! The parks there open at 8am, and 7am for magic morning. We would get there at 730ish for 8am opening. AND, we would go in the opposite direction of everyone LOL. Most people were RUNNING to the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride at CA, and we were walking so peacefully through Grizzly Peak and Carsland! In the afternoon I felt like it was getting crowded, but we would just walk back to the hotel and swim. Manageable crowds in the evening, but since it's smaller spaces, it seems a bit more packed than at WDW. The Disneyland Park closed at midnight every night we were there, but with the time difference, we just couldn't hang that late!

We seriously loved it there so much, I want to go back!!

And a few of the tips that I learned from Disneyland Daily that I will share

Get a pocket blanket on Amazon and use it to save your space for the parades. People line up early and the blanket saved us a good chunk of space that people couldn't encroach on, and it folds up the size of a dollar bill so it took up no room. I bought black, mistake! It got hot on that blanket! So get another color. We liked to get spots across from the Small World ride, since it seemed we didn't have to line up too early for that.

Get "My first Visit" buttons at City Hall, if they are out, ask in the stores, they have them. Also, if you are traveling with anyone who has special needs, get a DAS at guest services also (my son has Autism...and loses interest while waiting in long lines and hates being elbow to elbow with people, so this works for us).

Donuts in crazy flavors are put out at the kiosk next to Sleeping Beauty Castle at 8am and like 6pm. They go quick, because they are yummy.

You can walk through Sleeping Beauty castle, and go inside. It's neat, and not crowded.

If you are driving (we weren't...we stayed across the street), know that you have to park in an offsite parking lot, and then tram it to the gates. So, make sure that you get there early enough for that. I would say park by 7am for an 8am opening.

They still have paper fast pass (and a new maxpass thing that costs money..Disneyland Daily has the info). Check the fast pass return times before you get in a standby line. Most of the time the fastpass return time was WAY less than the standby time. For instance, Buzz would say 30 minute wait, the fast pass time was 5 minutes away. So we would get a fast pass, then ride, then get another one if they wanted to go again. As soon as your fast pass is scanned on the ride, you can get another. This was the case for SOOO many rides in both parks. I kept telling people in the stand by line to go get fast passes! If your wait time isn't until later in the day, then you have to wait an hour to get another fast pass.
