First Vacation as Family of 5
Just booked our first family vacation with 3 kids - they will be 6, almost 4 and 10 months when we fly to Florida this winter. I'm looking for any good travel suggestions now that we are officially outnumbered. Tips for the plane ride, packing, etc. To make matters worse, my husband is afraid of flying. Wish me luck!
We are not going to Disney. Day trips only - beach, zoo, Legoland, pool, visit family.

Re: First Vacation as Family of 5
I have a 5, 6 & 1 year old.
With the one year old on my lap, I found it helpful to put other 2 kids next to me and let them entertain her and sit next to her for part of the flight. Hubby doesn't like flying either... so isn't much help. I give him alcohol before we fly.
The 5&6 year old are each responsible for their own carry on piece and have all their stuff packed into it. Last time, they also had backpacks with snacks and stuff to do on the plane (but we were on a longer flight). They love their suitcases and it limits us for how much we pack for them (a good thing since they end up wearing the same thing everyday anyway.

First Vacation as Family of 5
Flying to Florida is not a long flight but with kids it feels way longer. My kids each bring a backpack and inside I pack - 4 to 5 snacks, play doh, school workbooks, crayons, headphones, leap pad and or iPad, 2 to 3 new cheap toys from 5 below. A change of clothes for each kid and 1 adult in carry on in case someone has an accident. Also we only fly jetblue and when they get bored they watch tv shows or movies.
My kids are 5,5 and 7, they love flying and always do great on planes.
