Moms of Girls Dress Length
My dd is 5 and is fairly tall. She wears a size 6 clothing but the dresses are so short after one washing they are showing her tush. Its driving me crazy. I've tried to go up to a 6x or a 7 but than they are swimming on her. Are there any brands that are known to be longer.

Do you wash in cold water and hang to dry? I haven't had any issues with shrinking on DD's clothes because I never use the dryer and always wash them in cold

Re: Moms of Girls Dress Length
LOL. My 5 year old is very tall too and though she fits well into size 5, it's too short on her. She is thin. I've graduated into 6, 6x and even 7-8.
What brands are you buying? My girl ONLY wears dresses (no shorts or shirts)... so what I say will only apply to dresses:
I use mostly gymboree... which doesn't shrink in our machine (compared to GAP).
I have other dresses from Boden and Lord and Taylor. The Lord and Taylor stuff doesn't go in the dryer. It is "fancier" but she wears it regularly. We buy when they have super sales.
The Boden stuff is amazing... I buy big and she wears it for a LONG time (as in 2 years) and it washes and dries no problem. The only thing that's an issue is the $$. It's double or triple the cost of the other dresses. BUT, we get 2 dresses a year and she wears them to death (at least once a week). so this year, we have 4 dresses in the wardrobe that she wears from there.

We got a few cute jumping beans dresses from kohl's this year that go longer in the back. Their dresses definitely shrink but that would solve your problem.

Yes always cold water and I never put them in the dryer. Sometimes they still shrink but even more annoying than shrinking is they are short to begin with.

Re: Moms of Girls Dress Length
I find Hannah Anderson runs a little longer. I usually have dd wear bicycle shorts under her dresses.

Re: Moms of Girls Dress Length
So DD just came out dressed in a dress she got as a gift for her bday. It's from Children's Place and it's a longer length than most dresses she has. It's a really cute dress too. Maybe try there

I always have my daughters wear those stretchy little bike shorts under their dresses. I buy a whole bunch (mostly white) then I feel more comfortable w any dress length :)
