Is the $ savings worth it? Disney related
I had originally booked at the AOA because my girls were in love with it when they saw it in a brochure. I called today to change my passes to add an additional day. Just out of curiosity I asked the customer service rep about what type of options there were for free dining knowing AOA is not included in the promotion. So she said there wasn't a ton of rooms left for the free dining but I could get a room at Disney All Star Movie, up grade to park hoppers and get the better dining plan and save myself $1,600. My jaw basically dropped and I made her repeat it 3x time me. I started thinking well we will barely be in our room, and AOA is also a value resort so what will we really be missing. I took the deal but now I'm questioning it. I read reviews online that basically say its fine, nothing luxurious about it but its all you need.A lot of people complaining about food but we could eat other places. Any thoughts on Disney All star?

$1600 is a huge difference! They're both value hotels. Won't be much diff as far as amenities. Not like going from a deluxe to a value. It's a no brained.

AOA is one of the only resorts I have not stayed at, but Disney All Stars are fine. I've stayed in All Star Movies before and it's a cute resort. And you more than likely won't be spending much time in the room. For $1600 you made the right choice IMO.

Did you have a suite booked at AOA or a Little Mermaid room?

this was gonna be my question, too. except for the Little Mermaid area, the other rooms at AOA are suites with 2 bathroom and a kitchenette. so that would explain the huge price difference. and also might be worth spending a little more money to you, depending on what you want...

To save that kind of money AND get free dining I would've taken the offer too! ALL of the value resorts are basically the same unless you're doing the suite at AOA. We were in the Little Mermaid room and it was identical to the room we had a Pop Century.
We're park open to close people and barely in the room anyway so to get free dining and save $1600 I wouldn't even consider NOT taking that deal!

I stayed at the AOA in the Lion Kind room and my son loved it but if I could save $1600 I def would change. You are out and about so much....

I know I am the odd man out here... But if my kids had their heart set on one particular resort and I was already planning on the spending that money .. I would probably stay put. BUT my kids are still young and we spend a good amount of time at the resort. We got back for breaks every afternoon to hang out at the resort.
ETA: I am also not a fan of the All Star resorts so that could be weighing my decision..

Like another poster said, take the money and run! That's $1600!!! Your kids are young, they'll get over it, probably won't even know they aren't staying at resort they saw a brochure of. And anyway, even if they don't they're kids! Your the adult that makes the decisions! Spend that money somewhere else!

We love the suites at Aoa for our family of 5, but I would take the savings and free dining!
