I had a pool alarm - don't remember the brand. But a lot of things would set it off and it got annoying. We just redid our backyard and this is a much much more expensive option but we got a retractable safety cover. I love it - so easy and I truly feel like my kids are safe now. If you can't do that I would opt for the removable safety fences. Even though they aren't that great to look like and you have to take it down and put it up a lot, I think it's worth it for the peace of mind.

I know this would be ideal but it's not for my house it's for my parents house.
I'll bring that up to them as well though.
