just booked an inn. no indication on their website if they give a AAA discount so i called, was told to enter our AAA number on the promo code section in the check out and it should work, with 10% off. It didn't.

I call back get someone else and just make the reservation with them. They then quote me a higher price even with the AAA discount. I said ummm your website rate is ___. She says yeah, the website has a built in discount rate, and she can't get that rate with the AAA code. So I booked it at the website price without AAA.

Did she get over on me by not giving me the discount? This never happened to me before and i'm like, should I be angry?

I think AAA is off the rack rate. So, if the website rate is already discounted, the AAA rate won't apply. I often book rates cheaper than AAA. You could always try again and ask for the manager to make sure it's correct.

interesting. hadn't encountered that discrepancy before.

If you get rates cheaper than AAA, just wondering what the point of those places even accepting AAA is.

I think when we get there we'll double check this. thanks for replying!

I don't know about inns but with regular hotels I noticed that if you are a rewards member, member rate is cheaper than AAA rate.
