Yes- kids play out in the front yard or driveway, older kids have a basketball hoop on the curb and play in the street. I see kids of all ages riding their bikes up and down the street. I live on a really quiet block in Lynbrook.

Kids play outside in my neighborhood all the time. But we have a lot of kids the same age on our block, and all of the parents encourage outdoor play (bike riding, sports, etc.). We also do a lot of things as a block -- we have an annual block party, we have bbqs, we get together for things like trick-or-treating and when Santa comes on the firetruck.

I live in North Bellmore, in the Old Britton Estates area.

I think it's really more "block dependent" than town or neighborhood dependent. I know many other people in my town/school district who complain that there are no kids on their block. So they look to meet up at the school playground and that type of thing.

We live out East on a long street - total of about 8 kids on the street and we all live several houses away from each other. My kids play in the back yard or our front area but not on the road - not safe as cars sometimes forget they are driving in a residential neighborhoodChat Icon

We ride our bikes around the block in the evenings and have never met another family either on foot or riding their bikes. Not that kind of neighborhood.

N. Bellmore on a dead end street- no kids on our block. The youngest kids I have seen on our block are either 8th or 9th graders. We have been here a year and havent seen or heard of block parties. I am ok w it since its nice and quiet in our little area. Chat Icon

THIS. We live on a cul de sac and my kids used to play in the yard. Now we have at least 2 neighbors with kids the same age so we are always in the front or playing in the circle. But in other parts of Greenlawn, we have friends who say they never play in front for whatever reason. We always see groups of kids at the playground more often than not

We are in Greenlawn and also in a culdesac and there are never kids playing outside. Our neighbors have two boys who sometimes play basketball in their driveway, but that's it. Our block seems to have a lot of older retirees though.

Kids are constantly running all over my neighborhood. The adults will sit outside during the warmer weather and have a few drinks or coffee while the kids play. Its nice Chat Icon
