Would you let dd wear a nightgown? I'd much prefer to send her in pants but of course she's lobbying for a princess nightgown which I'm not comfortable with. Thoughts?

Re: Pajama day at school

I have boys, but I wouldn't do nightgown. Not too easy to play on the playground either. Can you put shorts under it? Does she have princess pajama pants or shorts?

Re: Pajama day at school

In Pre K she fought me on it and won. It was a long one too. I think we did like bike shorts under it.

In K it was around Christmas so we did Christmas PJs- pants and top

This year she had it yesterday- and it was SOOO hot. But she wore PJ shorts and matching top.
I wouldn't want her in a nightgown in elementary because they go on a larger playground, more climbing structures, seems it would be a hindrance;

In PreK they had a tiny little playground so it wasn't a big deal

Uggh, we also have a few things to do before school. Hopefully I can talk her into something else. It's prek, big school but small playground. If all else fails I may have to take them to the big park before school to force the issue lol.

Re: Pajama day at school

I would. I mean, I let her wear dresses to school. And pajama day at my dd's school are usually rainy days when they know they are not going outside.

If that's what she wanted sure but she would wear an undershirt and cartwheel/bike shorts under it just like she would when she wears a dress/skirt.

Re: Pajama day at school

The problem with the nightgown my DD wanted to wear was it was long.
Way longer than any dress she would wear to school.
I was concerned it might be dangerous on the playground- getting caught on something.

If it was a shorter night gown, I'd have felt better

So we agreed on a short nightgown with bike shorts underneath. I thought that made it safe to put my 2yo in a dress and now she's crying bc she's jealous of her sister's dress. I really can't win.

yes, I have. I was also uncomfortable with it at first but then realized she wears dresses to school so why not? I was happy to see lots of little girls were wearing them

Yeah if it's short, I'd be fine with it- it's like a dress

I would let my DD wear a nightgown with leggings or bike shorts underneath.

Probably I'd just put leggings underneath.

I let DS wear what he wants (also PreK) not worth a fight in the morning IMO.

Yes, and I wouldn't fight it. I don't think a nightgown is different than a dress. Also, at that age, they are exerting their independence and it's best to encourage that, as long as it's safe.

My son despises pajama day. He peed in his pants on purpose so his teacher would have to change him into the regular clothes I ask in his backpack.
