Body wash for eczema

I think this was asked recently but I can't find the thread.... dd2 was just diagnosed with eczema. The doctor told me to switch her to Dove. I don't know why this escaped my mind in the office, but I'M allergic to that mild fragrance all dove products have. Me and dove are disasterous together. I'm getting itchy just thinking about it. What body washes do you use for your DC with eczema? Tia!

You're going to think I'm crazy but I can't handle aveeno either! I had to throw out the bottle of baby aveeno because it make my hands turn red!

Wonder where my kid gets these skin issues from...

Dh buys pure shea butter soap and it's awesome. I think he buys it from bulkapothecary.com but I can check if you're interested. It's really moisturizing without any added scents or anything.

Mustela for bathing and Cerave cream (the one in the tub) for moisturizer right after the bath

Body wash for eczema

We use dove sensitive bar.

I must say both my DDs have bad eczema- I used to bathe them every other day. Past few months have been crazy busy and it's been more like every 3/4 days and their eczema is completely gone. I don't even need hydrocortisone anymore.

I used the Aquafor baby one and definitely do not bathe everyday. When DS was little he only had a bath 3-4 times a week. Now that hes older its every other day unless something happens

We used Cetaphil. But my kids eczema was severe, she had weeping eczema, it was gross. We started with the antibacterial bar soap, then moved to the pump liquid-ish kind.

Not my favorite product, but it was literally the only thing that didn't make things worse.

Also, as per my pediatric dermatologist, and my experience, bathing everyday is actually great for dry skin, soap everyday is not, really warm water is not. Lukewarm soaks everyday are good though.

Absolutely this. Bathing every day is the worst thing for their skin - especially if they have eczema.
At that age, they don't sweat or have body odor like adults do. They don't need to be bathed every day.
Unless DD was sweating a lot or we had sunscreen on that day, she was never bathed every day.

I think the dove I use for myself is unscented. Or maybe it's just "sensitive".
Our dermatologist recommended Cetaphil or Dove, but DD seemed to do better with California Baby super sensitive.

Me too. There is also an Aquafor ezcema lotion for babies that really works well. I also cut back on baths to every 3 or 4 days and it definitely helped.

I use the Dove "unscented" on myself but to be honest, it still has a scent. Not a strong one, but still something.
Strange

We've used a bunch of different things but now we mostly use the Aquafor baby wash for eczema. We only bathe every 2 nights, when possible. And moisturize right after bath/shower.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I usually give a bath every 3-4 days as well because their skins are so dry and sensitive.

Lol no I get it. Aveeno worked for us. And airbonne worked as well. A bit pricey but we don't use much and bathed every other day. Quick baths because she hated it and out ped said quick baths are best for excema

What helped dd a lot was a little tea tree oil in the bath (about half a medicine dropper) and then we rub in coconut oil before we even dry her off after her bath. That way there's no chance for their skin to dry out. I've actually read that daily baths are good for eczema, not necessarily with soap, as long as you moisturize immediately. I don't have energy for that though lol.

If it's really bad, see a pediatric dermatologist who can prescribe an rx. It helped DS immensely!

Actually, I disagree. My DD had terrible eczema. I'm talking bleeding, cracked skin terrible (partly due to undetected food allergies at the time). Both her dermatologist and allergist told us to bathe her EVERY night for ~20 mins in LUKEWARM water (hot is not good). We don't use soap every single day, more like every 2 days. Then we apply Cerave cream immediately after the bath. It's so routine for us now. She loves her "tubby time". Her skin is great Chat Icon
