What time do you prefer a party to start?

I'm booking DS2's party at the end of June. The kids will range from age 3-5 with most being 4 or 5. The place has plenty of spots open and they start at half past each hour. I usually book things more last minute and am not used to having so many choices. Is it better to do something earlier like 10:30 - 12 so people have the afternoon free, plan it during lunch from 11:30-1 so some kids can nap after or ignore naps and have it in the mid afternoon? What do you prefer?

I went to a 2nd birthday party that was from 4-6 and I thought the timing was great. My DS was able to nap as usual, and when he woke up we headed there, played, and then they provided pizza for dinner. I thought it was convenient timewise. Parties right at lunch time tend to be difficult for me to plan around, I usually end up trying to get him to nap before and then waking him up for us to get there on time, but a day off schedule never hurt anyone.

I prefer the 10:30-12. This way you have the rest of the day free.

ETA my son stopped napping at 3 so I guess for me ,that wouldn't be a factor.

Naps were never a factor for us even when he napped. I would just pick what works for you and most people will work around it.

I prefer earlier. 10:30 or 11 would be ideal. Any later eats up your entire day.

As someone who can't get their ish together in the morning whether or not I'm awake, I'd prefer the later time. 11:30- 1 is perfect for me!

11:30, not too early, and doesn't "ruin" the whole day.

10:30-12 or 11:30-1 would be good as would 4-6. My 2 year old naps midday so the 1-3 range is hard for us.

This. As I said on the other thread on FHF- I like to ass sit on weekend mornings and hate to have to rush.
I do enough of that 5 days a week

I would prefer earlier. We just booked DD's party and chose the 11-12:30 time slot. I thought that time wasn't too early, but didn't ruin the whole day.

Re: What time do you prefer a party to start?

I would prefer 10:30-12 or later like 4-6 like someone mentioned. Then it doesn't ruin the entire day and doesn't throw off naps either.

When I first heard about having a party this late I was Chat Icon

But, I actually think it's perfect. Tire them out, feed them, take them home, bath, put them to bed. And you still have the whole day.

OP- you're never going to make everyone happy. Choose what works best for you and don't give it a second thought Chat Icon

10:30-12. It's not too early and you're done by noon so you have your whole day. Even back when my kids were nappers this would be an ideal time!Chat Icon

4-6...........Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon NO way! That kills the day. I hate having something hanging over me late in the day like that. For kids parties, early is better.
