Carseat on Airplane or child restraint harness?

Just wanted to see what the majority does for their toddler while traveling.

After reading about all the Disney talk on this board, we pulled the trigger and booked for November 2017.

Our daughter will be two and a half by then and im trying to figure out how to best travel with her.

Thx!

We have used neither. Just bought a seat for her and used the regular seatbelt. We rented a car seat with our rental car at our destination.

My daughter will be visiting with my granddaughter in June. She will be close to the same age She is using her carseat. She figured it would be more comfortable and
she wants her carseat here for the visit.

We used the restraint for my older DS when he was that age. We didn't use anything for my younger DS.

We checked the carseat.

we don't use either. I have found my kids sat better just in the seat - maybe because it was different or more comfortable..

Are you taking Disney's Magical Express? If so, you can't use carseats on it. So you really have no use for one once you get there. I personally wouldn't use anything on the plane...just buckle them in. If it's going down, a carseat probably isn't going to matter. For turbulence, the seatbelt should be enough.

Carseat on Airplane or child restraint harness?

We do not use anything on the plane. I travel via plane with DS 2-3x a year and never second guessed my decision.

As for a car seat - we have done a few things. When I visit my parents they have one for us, I have rented from the car rental and I have traveled with out own. All have pros and cons.

DS is now big enough for a booster so this past week we traveled with that since its small.

We used the CARES harness for dd when she was 2.5. Got it from zulily. She's a little low tone, so I think the extra harness support worked well for her. And I think she would have flown all over had we hit turbulence, she's always been tiny for her age though.

This year, we will be using a car seat for our 18 month old dd2 when we fly. She would take the freedom of a seat a little too far....

We rented CARES harnesses for our 3 and 5 year olds. If there is turbulence they could still fly up out of their seats and bang their heads. Even with the lap belt on. We rented car seats when we got to our destination.

The last time we flew my DS was only 1.5 yrs old and I bought the CARES harness for him. Now he's 4 and my DD is 8, we're just using the lap belts this time.

We brought the car seat when DS2 was 2.5 and he was miserable. He ended up sitting with me and then I had to force him into the seat for landing. Not fun. Won't ever bring it again, especially to Disney if we are not renting a car.

We use her carseat on the plane and in the rental car. It's the safest place for her to be on a plane and I don't trust a carseat that has been rented and used by tons of other people through the rental car company. She's also comfortable in it and we are comfortable installing it properly.
