Is your life WORTH it?????

By far my biggest damn pet peeve...and its more than that.

Are people looking at their cell phones while walking, and croissing the street, and going up stairs, and down stairs, and in and out of the subway.....I could go on.

but it really does make my blood boil when these azzhats WALK while looking at their phone.

Did you know I was talking to platform workers in NYC at Grand Central 2-3 days ina row. because I wanted to get a sense of it.

They told me EVERY.DAMN.DAY someone tries to jump on the tracks to retrieve something. Dropped cell phone was #1 because stupid people are on the phone when walking in/out of the subway cars, it slips and you are done.

but people ACTUALLY try to jump onto the track to retrieve "pick something".

But women who are walking on the street and in the subway with no care as to who is around them, GLUED to their phone. THAT is what makes me want to scream at them.

RIGHT NOW there is a subway slasher. YOU are not paying attention, to ANYTHING around you. Makes you a prime subject to be robbed, slashed or worse.

STUPID women practically asking for it because their phones are more important than their life. I will include men in this, but we all know that being a women just makes you more vulnerable.

(And don't confuse "asking for it" for anything other than what I mean. If you don't pay attention because you are walking and texting, playing a game, reading yahoo, reading your email....you are opening yourself up to being assaulted)

Bad people WANT to do bad things to you. WHY would you make it easy for them????????

Put your damn phone away while you are walking. It could save your life.

I'm too much of a misanthrope to care about their safety.

People aren't going to change. There could be one attack/mugging/whatever for every ten people in this city and people would still be staring at their phones.

It is irksome when I have to navigate around them on the streets though. I really just want to shove them out of the way.

I addition to staring at a phone most of these folKS have music blasting in head phones. So they can't see or hear. Not safe.

you are 100% correct. you make yourself a target by not paying attention.

i took a self defense class last summer and this was highlighted by the instructor. you MUST be aware of your surroundings to have a chance at escaping at best, defending yourself at worst.

I don't care about the stupidity of other people, I'm not responsible for their actions.

I care about myself, and that is why I walk purposely, not plugged into my music, or reading texts or talking on the phone. Subways I stay alert, LIRR I do doze off or listen to music.

I get pissed at DH when he checks his phone while driving - a text comes in, or an app sends an alert, or he's fiddling with the buttons on the car controls.
He doesn't get it, but he's putting MY life in danger if we get into an accident.
We see so many drivers on the road who are driving erratically because they are doing all of the above, then DH goes and does the same.

There are reports of people on the "L" train being mugged while they sleep or not pay attention on the train.
Pockets and purses are slashed to get to the wallets and phones.

The woman who got cut in the face for her phone was horrible.

OMG..the phones make me rage.

two weeks ago Im driving home and some beotch is riding my ass. No one around me but she has to ride my bumper. she then goes around me into the right lane and I wind up being side by side. I look over to see:

her left hand behind the wheel with her phone propped against the steering wheel. Her right hand is on the other side of the wheel and she's using her thumb TO SCROLL WHILE DRIVING. Like F**king seriously. I blew my horn just to be annoying and she didnt even look up.

Every day Im in front of or behind someone I clearly see looking down at their phone every 2 seconds while driving.
