What car to get?
My lease on my 2014 CRV is up next month. Im considering another one because the updates to the 2017 CRV are great. This car would mainly be my commuting car. For our family car, we bought a Subaru Outback last year. I work in Flushing and have to endure street parking. Thing I do like about the CRV is that is that it isn't too big so I can fit into some spots easier. But we don't necessarily need two all wheel drive vehicles. Does any one here drive a smaller car with car seats? Like a Civic or Subaru Impreza or a Prius? My DH thinks I should just get an Accord - the V6 would be fun to drive but it's a little longer than the CRV. Better gas mileage too. I really wanted the Accord hybrid but found out there isn't a spare tire and I've had too many blowouts to take that chance.
Edit: totally forgot to mention I need rear seat to be comfortable for 1 and potentially 2 car seats in future.

Subaru Forester, if you want some speed, get the XT model 2017 Mazda CX-5- redesigned in 2017, super cool looking, supposed to be fun to drive. if you're looking for small, but SUV check out the new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek which is coming out and is built off of the Impreza hatchback platform.
Honestly depends on your commute. If I were going to Flushing every day and the HOV lane would make things a lot easier, I'd seriously consider a Prius, as much as I hate the idea of a slower car that is a bit boring to drive.

I believe the CRV comes in FWD if you don't need AWD. I know that a lot of SUV's do- the Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe definitely come in FWD so if you don't need AWD but still want the size of the SUV, that's an option. It's cheaper without the AWD

i would stick with the CRV. i have had mine 5 yrs and loveeee it. if i got a new car in our current situation i would buy the new CRV as well. same color haha. for now ill just keep the old one with no car payments. the CRV is also a great price, a lot of cars would be same if not more $$
i agree with PP about commuting/ HOV lane. it is so worth the higher cost for hybrid if you are commuting and you spend less on gas so it works itself out.
