Anyone here on stelara?
For psoriasis? I had mine under control but just had a bad flare up after being sick with strep and tonsillitis
Last time derm gave me a cream not
Covered and it cost a fortune
Does the shot work for you? Was it covered
Any other remedies? Thanks!

I am a medical assistant at a dermatology office. I'm also responsible for getting patients coverage for all biologic medications. I think Stelara is a great drug, but there is also a newer medication called Otezla. It is a pill, so you will not have to inject yourself if you're a bit nervous about that.
There are a lot of programs that can help get any of these biologics covered, but know that it can take quite some time to actually get them covered. Sometimes, I work on a prior authorization for a biologic for up to 2 months.
Can you ask your derm if they have otezla starter packs? If they are okay with putting you on otezla, the office might have a starter pack to give you. After that, the company can send you more packs for maintenance until they are able to get the medication covered.
If you don't mind me asking, which insurance do you have?

Anyone here on stelara?
I wanted to take it, but then read about the lymphoma side effect with all of these psoriasis drugs, so I just deal with it.
