St. Thomas Family Vacation
This summer my husband and 2 kids (6 and 8) will be visiting St. Thomas. We will be staying at a condo at Sapphire Beach. We will be close to Red Hook. So far we have a day trip to St. John and dinner at Red Hook planned. I'm just curious what else is recommended? Any suggestions are appreciated. TIA!

Re: St. Thomas Family Vacation
We went to Coral World one morning and liked that. We also love Magen's Bay. Mountain Top is beautiful and its the home of the Banana Daiquiri. We spend one day shopping down in Charlotte Amalie and checking out the cruise ships. I love St. John and have spent whole vacations there too...it is such a beautiful part of the world.

Thank you for the info. I'll look into all of them. Did you find Coral World worth the trip? Was it like a big aquarium?

Aw that's where we honeymooned. We stayed at Pavillions and Pools right next to Sapphire Beach and snorkeled Sapphire Beach which was fantastic.

Re: St. Thomas Family Vacation
St John is my annual vacation spot. Hit the beaches, they are awesome for snorkling. Trunk, Cinammon, Maho is my favorite. Coral Bay is a bit of a ride, but nice beach, Skinny Legs for lunch is a must in Coral Bay.
Grab one of the taxis (look for Mr. Penn's red taxis, they are the best service on the island) to the beach and arrange a pickup time back to Cruz Bay. If you are going to eat in Cruz Bay, any one of the beachfronts are good, especially at sunset - High Tide, Joes' Rum Hut, Beach Bar are our favorite hangouts and they are close to the ferry.
Banana Deck, Lime Inn both have delicious food, reservations are best because they get crowded.
If you want some shopping, Mongoose Junction has a lot of shops and also restaurants. Scoops for delicious ice cream, the Tap Room for some St. John beer.
You can walk from Mongoose back to the ferry.
Closer to the ferry there is Wharfside Village - it's the other side of the beachfront restaurants. Bamboo has some unique jewelry, I stop in every year to get a new something. St. John Spice has some unique items, worth climbing a flight of stairs. I buy the Steve Simonsen calendar every year to remind me of my happy place.
Enjoy ! I love St. John. It is my home away from home.
