Constantly sick child
My son is 18 months old. Since Christmas, he has had 3-4 weeks where he has had a fever on top of the stomach virus (which the whole house had).
Is it normal for a child who isn't in school or daycare to be sick this often?
I'm starting to become concerned, but my pediatrician always says its viral and not to worry. I'm naturally anxious, so it might be that part of me making me worry excessively. This is just so frustrating to have a child who is constantly ill.

3-4 weeks straight or off and on? How are they diagnosing viral? Did they run any blood work? Any other symptoms aside from a fever?

Between the ages of 1 and 2, DS was sick every three weeks or so. The streak finally ended with roseola. He was in daycare part time. Doctor said the same thing, viral. They did a urinalysis on him at one point.

No, 3-4 fevers between Christmas and today. He had blood done at 15 months, all within normal limits.
His temp is at 100.4 now. He has a cough and definitely teething.

Pretty normal. Kids get exposed to school age kids no matter where you go... our kids got the flu from a museum (an art museum of all places!).
2 colds a month is normal. Winter season will be done soon.

DD is 21 months and goes to daycare full time. She's usually "sick" (low grade fever, runny nose, coughing, etc.) for 1 week a month. So healthy for 3, under the weather for 1.

It's completely normal if you aren't religious about hand washing. Especially with the germs you and your spouse bring into the house. Kids that age put their hands in their mouths. I would step up the handwashing

Re: Constantly sick child
It could be viral. Or it could be something more. It honestly isnt that uncommon to have s series of wintertime illnesses.
