PWC - Public Accounting Firm
I have an opportunity to interview for a Tax Manager position at this firm in Melville. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this firm? I am looking at the Melville office.
I feel like these bigger firms have a bad reputation as far as work/life balance. I work in public accounting now and I know it is normal to have insane hours but I am wondering how much worse it can get!
I am looking to move companies for growth which I am not finding with the firm I am at now.

My friend worked for PWC for years in manhattan. It was only really bad during busy season.

Good for you! My best guy friend and his fiance work there too. Jason has worked there under a year but loves it. Fiance for years.

I always preferred the mid-size feel myself, but I know that the Big 4 are becoming very competitive with work-life balance/working from home situations so it's definitely worth looking into.

Good luck with the interview!
I have heard both sides with my friends in the big 4. but it seems from what they tell me that due to the size of the company they are a little more flexible with working from home, balancing home/work life etc as well.... but on the tax side, that season does involve a ton of hours etc.

My husband has worked for one of the big 4 for over 12 years. There is barely any work life balance. He is close to partnership consideration and it is insane! He is leaving for Asia in a week, we found out yesterday.
He does not work for PWC so, I am not sure of their flexibility.
