I have a goldencocker AN found her at a rescue group and adopted her. Would you consider looking to adopt instead of buy :)
Ive always adopted a rescue. We really want t a doodle this time around. If we could find one at a rescue we would adopt it. We want a responsible breeder and not a puppy from a puppy mill. We want to meet the breeder and see the parents and have pups raised in home.
They're all puppy mills. There is no responsible breeding.
Thank you! I honestly cannot believe that people still buy animals
This thread isn't about shaming someone, she asked a simple question. If you don't have an answer pertaining to the subject move on.
Who's shaming. I did answer. I answered correctly, just because it's not what she wanted to hear isn't my problem. People get twisted about an uggs ad showing sheep getting shaved because it's inhumane. Does anyone wonder about these breeders who are just making litters and treating the dogs like shit. This is close cause for me. Check out the pets board and read the pinned post about breeding. These dogs are wined and dined. Their pimped out, bread to the max and then put down.

I would personally disagree with you.
The man that bred my guy is a professor of animal husbandry for the University of Tennessee. AKC recognized. Not only do I know someone who used him but I researched him as well.
Plus I wet to his house to pick up my dog. There was no puppy mill going on there.
We will agree that there IS an issue, a BIG issue in this country of puppy mills. There is also a BIG problem with dog shelters being over populated. We ABSOLUTLY agree.
On the converse we can also agree that not everyone wants to adopt a dog from a shelter. So its just unfair to put the worlds (The US) dog overpopulation problem on EVERYONE who wants a dog.

Wow I cannot believe some of these responses. My husband and I have ALWAYS rescued from North Shore and we donate every year. We just had to put our 15 year old rescue boy down last month. He was a adopted from NSAL and we gave him a great life.
Now my girls really want a doodle. Our friends have 2 and they just love them. I understand that these dogs are not AKC but there are many breeders who do follow codes of ethics even though they are not AKC dogs. I do not consider someone who breeds and sells a golden or bernadoodle a puppy mill if they are breeding their dogs in the same way a reputable AKC breeder is breeding their animals. This is the reason I was looking for a first hand experience.
I'm sorry for your loss. Truly sorry.
