Re: Costa Rica
Do you mean a hotel near the airport or just a nearby destination? We flew into Liberia on our first trip to CR. We then headed to Arenal/La Fortuna and stayed at El Silencio del Campo. I loved it there and there is SO much to do in that area (and most areas of CR, really). Then from there we headed to Tamarindo and stayed at Cala Luna. That was nice as well. We've also flown into San Jose and stayed at other areas around CR. LMK if you have questions. I responded to your FM last month too.

Just looking for a destination/resort that we could go to when flying into Liberia. How far is Arenal from Liberia?
I think someone else may have sent you an FM, it wasn't me.

Sorry! It was another username with mommy and a 3 in it lol!
I believe it was around a 3 hour drive from Liberia to Arenal. Tamarindo was around an hour from Liberia. We had a great driver that would give us history of things we were passing and stop the car for us to take pics...so much wildlife everywhere!
In some cases, you can also fly around CR for around the same price as a private car transfer. We have flown into San Jose and then took another 30 min flight to Manual Antonio (great place) and stayed there for a few days before flying down to the Osa peninsula, which is super out of the way and rugged.
Overall, our favorite region has probably been Arenal but there's so much to do everywhere and all the areas are so diffferent. My sister is going for her HM and they are doing Arenal, one of the cloud forests (can't remember which one but I know it's not Monteverde) and Manual Antonio.

We are only going for 5 days (sat-thurs) so I think it would make sense for use to stay closer to Liberia. Where did you stay in Tamarindo? Do you think it would be worth it to do an all inclusive like secrets? Or do a more boutique style hotel?

Re: Costa Rica
I guess it depends what you're looking for. I personally wouldn't do an all inclusive in a place like Costa Rica because we are never at the resort. We are always out exploring or doing excursions.
We stayed at Cala Luna and enjoyed it. Playa Conchal is another popular area about an hour away. We didn't stay there but visited. Gorgeous beach.

I stayed i tamarindo in Sept. We staying in an Air BnB that was great.
The all inclusive tend to be out of the towns a bit. And Tamarindo is safe and great places to eat etc.
