Tax Reduction - Spinoff
Quick Question - When you grieve your taxes, do they do an inspection of the home/property? My dad always means to do one but he has an illegal deck and he always freaks out he's gonna get hit with all sorts of taxes/penalties, etc. Live in Town of Islip if that makes any difference.

They do what is called a drive-by. They inspect from the outside. I worked for a company that did this. They wouldn't go on your property, but if you are on a corner or positioned where the back yard could be seen from the street, it could be an issue.

The town of islip doesn't do this. The only way it would become an issue is if you bypassed the SCAR procedure and went through Supreme Court instead of small claims. Then an appraisal would be necessary. The odds of that are super slim. Nothing to worry about.
