Scientists March on Washington

This is still in the planning stages, but I think it is VERY important for all of our futures!

Scientists March on Washington

Although this will start with a march, we hope to use this as a starting point to take a stand for science in politics. Slashing funding and restricting scientists from communicating their findings (from tax-funded research!) with the public is absurd and cannot be allowed to stand as policy. This is a non-partisan issue that reaches far beyond people in the STEM fields and should concern anyone who believes in empirical research and science.

There are certain things that we accept as facts with no alternatives. The Earth is becoming warmer due to human action. The diversity of life arose by evolution. Politicians who devalue expertise risk making decisions that do not reflect reality and must be held accountable. An American government that ignores science to pursue ideological agendas endangers the world.

My husband was talking about this. This ******** with the freezes and gag orders will directly effect his job in research and education. These are really scary times - regardless of what the Trump supporters would like to believe.Chat Icon

But why waste money on research if climate change doesn't exist, amirite? Jobs! Economy! Would be the answer.

I can't take it anymore Chat Icon

I think you said your DH does engineering with wind turbines, right? My DH isn't an engineer, but does quite a bit of work with wind turbines. I wonder how this will affect things here.

My DH works on engineering wind turbines. His company is optimistic that it will not affect them too much - granted he works for a large international company!

No, he's not an engineer, he's in marine sciences. Well, he's mentioned wind turbines but he doesn't work with them at all. Mostly fisheries and storm water.
Obviously DH and his coworkers are still baffled as to how so many of these supposedly educated people can still deny SCIENCE.
