What were you screened/tested for?
I am a little confused...I looked at the lab sheets my dr. wants me to take to the lab for blood work. Why am I being screened for Jewish diseases? I couldn't be more NON-Jewish if I tried. It's just rather confusing to me that a young [mid 20s] mother is being screened for things she has practically no genetic chance of carrying.
I will likely call my dr...but was curious as to what you were all screened for as well.
TIA

Re: What were you screened/tested for?
they pretty much screen for everything/anything- lots of different genetic diseases- which you could carry whether you are healthy/young or not (like Cystic Fibrosis, etc)....
they also have to legally screen for hepatitis and HIV....
They also I think do a regular blood panel- CBC, etc- to check that all your organs are functioning....
Basically- once they draw all that blood- it is just as easy for them to test it for as much as they can- they already have it all and they don't want to NOT test b/c then they are liable should you have something....better to be safe than sorry.

I agree. I'm sure they ran all the tests on my blood work. It's not like it can hurt to run a few extra tests.
