Idk what the answer is but the admin is doing nothing to attract new users. Goldenrod, you're good at the statistics stuff, are you able to calculate the rate of new users gained on this site? I feel like there are absolutely no new faces. And we've lost so many regulars at a much faster pace than we're getting new users.
Political posts may be annoying but it's the only thing keeping the boards active these days, and sorry to say but Trump gives us so much material.
An app would be nice.
Ability to post pics easier. Sometimes you just give up trying because the image is always too large.

A lot of people would come over from LIWeddings after their wedding was over, but that site is more dead than this one these days which doesn't help.

I feel with Facebook now that this is starting to die down unfortunately. there was a time when this was the only place to discuss topics but now FB has all these groups.

I don't have direct access to the user list, or their numbering scheme, but from what I can gather, this is what I came up with (I place no guarantee on the accuracy, since I don't can't see the actual list):

4000: 4/07 - 4 months
5000: 8/07 - 4 months
6000: 1/08 - 5 months
7000: 7/08 - 6 months
8000: 12/08 - 5 months
9000: 6/09 - 6 months

11000: 5/10 - 5 months
12000: 10/10 - 5 months
13000: 2/11 - 4 months

??? Not sure why there's a huge gap here....
61000: 10/14
62000: 3/15 - 5 months

62962: 1/17 - latest user. 7 months for 250
In the last two years, the number of new users has definitely dropped precipitously.
From roughly 2000 per year, to 450 or so in the last year.

Aside from an easier way to post pictures, I wish you could just type as link and have it automatically be live.

I think message boards are finished.
I must be one of the few that prefer these types of boards. I hate using FB for this kind of forum bc you're name is out there for everyone to see and you can't pick and choose which topics you want to see - it all shows up on my wall.

I'm really not sure what would increase activity. I feel like this board is like old shoes, comfortable!
