Bridgeport Ferry

I'm taking the ferry from CT to LI next week. I know Bridgeport isn't the best area. Is there anywhere (or in the surrounding area) that I can grab a quick bite with two little kids before the ferry. Also, how early should I be there for the ferry?

They have decent food on the ferry and I think they sell snacks before boarding too but we always eat on the boat. If you have a reservation you don't need to be very early at all. I've driven up an hour early and been put on the previous boat and I've driven up at the very last second and been fine. I usually try for about 10-15 minutes before.

The ferry food is pretty expensive as is the food at the terminal. Fairfield and Trumbull are right next to Bridgeport (as you drive down park ave or kings highway which is just a few min from there) there's plenty of food. Try chips diner it's very close to the ferry in bridgeprt
Depends if you are walking or driving on. Walking on like 20-25 min before driving on, as long as you have a reservation you are good

I take the Cross Sound ferry all the time between Orient Point and New London but not much experience with the Bridgeport ferry. The ferry food is pretty good though so I usually grab food either at the stand before we board or on the boat. If you are driving on the ferry and have a reservation, I would get there at least 20 minutes early, but I always plan to get there 30 mins ahead of departure.

ETA: I think they may place you on standby if you are there less than 15 mins from departure, even if you have a reservation.
