Castaway Cay - Other Than Renting a Cabana...

we did the stingray feeding excusion. ( kids have to be 5 to do it) its an hour- you feed the stingrays from your hands, then you have some time to snorkel/ swim around with them. it was fun.
ALSO for a few dollars you can rent bikes (they even have ones with training wheels if you need those) and ride around to the other part of the island, on the old runway--- we always do that!
theres also a drop-off kids club right there for kids 3 and over- so that was nice that DS wanted to go there and DH and i got a little beach time by ourselves.
theres also a spray area for kids to run around in...
basically i don't think you HAVE to book anything or pay extra for anything though. its just a GREAT island to have a beach day on, hang around

We have yet to do any official excursions on CC for various reasons, mainly because of my son who has special needs and limitations on what he is able to do. Would love to do the wave runners one day!

We usually get off the boat right when you can get off. Then take the tram to the family beach. It doesn't look like a long walk from the boat, but when it's hot, you will die. We stake out a chair/umbrella and then hang out for a bit. We also rent the float and tube (we do one of each). You can do this the day of also, no need to book in advance unless you want to do the package. Then we hit Pelican Plunge before it gets busy! That is the barge with the water slides on it. They have free life jackets for the little ones right near it.

We have rented boats in the past, those you don't need a reservation for. The pedal boats are all we have done because the water trikes are HARD to pedal. We always WANT to do the hobie cat thing where you just push a button and it goes, but it's always been to windy so they say no.

You can rent a bike, no need to sign up in advance...we never do since my son has special needs and can't ride, BUT, they have smaller bikes for kids and training wheels. They even offered to put training wheels on the adult bike for my son, so we might do that next month!

Don't miss the characters!! They aren't out if you disembark right at the announcement, they are usually out around 9:30 ish. So after staking out your spot, go back and meet some!

Also, get lunch early on because it gets busy!! And don't forget to get the ice cream...they usually have banana out!!

We are cruising next month on the Wonder...last minute decision. I joined our cruise group on Facebook and posted about wanting a cabana. A couple of days ago a nice woman said she was cancelling hers, and would wait for me to get online so I can snag it as soon as she cancelled. Worked like a charm! We are cruising in March and haven't booked any excursions for Castaway Cay. We plan on just getting chairs with an umbrella and have a relaxing beach day.

We did the sting ray excursion and it was excellent. I remember it not being crazy expensive either.

Our kids also did an hour at shuttle's cove, the kids club. It is free. We watched hermet crab races, danced with goofy and also did a scavenger hunt in the whale dig site. All included.

Castaway Cay is so much fun!
