Hashtag Abuse
We all know the people who go overboard with the hashtags- like 15 hashtags after a picture of their salad.
We have discussed that on here, I know.
(#olive, #crisp, #romaine, #ranch, #chickpea- that thread cracked me up!)
That's bad enough, but I can deal with that.
I recently came across someone that I follow on Instagram who not only uses excessive- and I mean EXCESSIVE- hashtags, but uses them completely wrong.
She will type out a full paragraph, telling the story of the picture, but will randomly hashtag words in the paragraph for no reason.
Like this:
Last #night my #husband and I #went to the #store and #we found the #cutest gift for #our daughter, Jessie. #We are #so excited to#give it #to her tomorrow #for Christmas. Wishing #everyone a #very Merry Christmas #and a #happy new year #too
I swear, it's like that for every pic she posts.
It's like, type an essay and just toss in some hashtags every few words. Yeah, that's the point of hashtags.
They need to give classes on social media use. People have gone mad!

Hate it. So ridiculous. My DD (10) and her friends just started talking in hashtags and I want to jump off the roof!!

omg that is ridiculous.. What kills me more than the hashtags is the length of the posts people make. If you're typing more than 2-3 lines of text with your photo, i'm not reading it lol

I have a friend who just makes up the most random and lengthy hashtags and I think she does not grasp the purpose of them. It's annoying.

Oh the long ones kill me. Because you are trying to read a full sentence but with no spaces between the words so I get a headache

I do hashtag for my dogs instagram. But they are pretty relevant to them. like #dogsatwork
I think the hashtags don't work if your profile is private.... You can see it and other people who follow you but that's it... and at that point, there is no reason to hash tag because it is not going to come up in a search.
I did read Brandi Glanville's book and she hash tagged in her book. It was painful.

Annoying! Although it makes it a tiny bit better when they make the first letter of every word capital so it's easier to read.

Yes, this annoys me the most! A hashtag is not just an opportunity for you to footnote your post. Just write what you want to write without the hashtag!
