Please give your child food. At 11 months with 4 teeth, he should be able to eat. Stop trying to focus just on breastmilk and formula. At 11 months, my DD was on full table food and only taking one bottle of formula a day and water the rest of the day from a straw cup. Give him yogurt, cheese, pancakes, mashed potatoes, meats, fruit, veggies... anything!

Adding Powder Formula to Breast Milk/Food/Formula
I think it may be time to find yourself a new pediatrician. You don't seem to be getting good, up-to-date information. I also have an 11mo, and she is eating 3 good meals a day and a snack in addition to 2 bottles of whole milk (5oz each) and I nurse her morning and night) She eats anything and everything foodwise - with 6 teeth.
Yogurt and cheese are absolutely okay to be feeding him and are very important at this age to start introducing because you want to make sure he is able to tolerate diary before you go to whole milk. These are also high in fat which will help him gain weight. I recommend full fat greek yogurt to start, especially since you say he doesn't have much experience with table foods yet. Avocados are also a great nutrient dense, high fat food that is easy for a baby with little teeth to take in. My ped recommended I feed my dd who is a little small an entire avocado a day if she'll take it to gain some weight.
Definitely stop focusing on the BM/Formula and start feeding this child more and more table foods. Don't worry about choking - just cut up into tiny pieces so that he can get used to gumming foods. I am a bit of a worry wart when it comes to choking, but we need to teach our children the skills of eating by trying.
Good luck - I am sure this is super stressful for you guys.

I agree with all of this but also you said your wife is "running out of milk" half way through the night. How do you know that? If she is just nursing, how can you tell that DS isn't getting milk from her? Running out of milk WHILE nursing isn't really a thing...breasts keep producing milk as babies nurse. Unless she has weaned and totally dried up, it's highly unlikely that she "runs out" while nursing.
Nonetheless, you can definitely be giving more table food and transitioning to whole milk at 11 months. At 11 months my EBF DS was getting 2 bottles during the work day of 1/2 BM 1/2 whole milk, which gradually increased to all whole milk, 3 solid meals, and 2 snacks, plus nursing 2x a day. He was and still is skinny, but nobody was concerned. He ate fruits/veggies, yogurt and cheese, pasta, pancakes, etc etc.

Adding Powder Formula to Breast Milk/Food/Formula
Hello everyone, happy New Year!
We've tried giving DS yogurt (Fage whole milk) this weekend, he did not seem to like it. probably too sour. We also gave him: Peanut butter / eggs / avocado. He was willing to eat them.
We'll try cheese (american) sometime this week (he's done eating dinner by the time my wife and I get home)
>>stop focusing on the BM/Formula
Yeah, it is a bit my fault. I thought BM/Formula was the BEST. I heard "kids always lose weight once they switch over to solids" - so I thought that meant its because BM/Formula is better than solids in terms of calories/nurtrition and everything else.
We had a doctor appoint on Thursday (4th pediatrician) - and we got 2 good pieces of info: 1. BM/Formula is the most "complete" food in terms of overall vitamins and nutrients, but not the most caloric food. I thought it was the most everything food.
2. Even though DS is 9th percentile in weight, he is 50 percentile in height so the doctor isn't that worried. If he was 9th in everything then thats bad. But since his height is good that shows he is "just tall and skinny" - so that made my wife and I feel better.
MandJZ >>your wife is "running out of milk" half way through the night. How do you know that?
My wife used to have to pump twice a day...then it got to the point where she didn't have to pump but her breasts would be super full by the time she got home. Now it doesn't feel full anymore according to her.
Thanks again everyone for all the info and help!!

I supplemented with my son. Always kept the bottles separate (breast milk and formula). Extra bottle washing but that's what I did.

That doesn't mean there's not milk in there, her milk is just regulating. It's supply and demand so she's producing enough milk to meet the demand instead of overproducing to the point where she's uncomfortably full.
I haven't tried greek yogurt for DD, but we give her Gerber Yogurt blends in a variety of flavors- strawberry, banana, blueberry. Since your LO is older, he can even have the crawler/toddler flavors. She seems to love them!

ETA: DD also really likes the yogurt melts- they dissolve in her mouth but it's good practice for gumming her food.

Like pp said, her supply is adjusting. She was feeling full bc her body was still expecting those pump sessions. After a few days, everything adjusts. It doesn't mean there's not milk there at her usual nursing times (even if they're not very consistent times).
As for yogurt, my girls like stonyfield yobaby or regular vanilla in the big tub.
Sounds like you got some good news and advice at his last appointment and can start to relax a little. When you stop stressing so much you may start to have a lot more fun with feeding him solids!

Yes definitely try a different yogurt with more sweetness to it. DD used to like the Yo Baby 3 in 1 meals. It had a fruit and a vege puree in it so it tasted sweet, but it got some veges in her too which was good. Plus it is made with whole milk so more fat/calories.

This exactly. I am still nursing my 2.5 year old. I haven't felt full in 2 years, but there is definitely still milk in there!!
My DS liked the stonyfield yogurts as well. He was ADDICTED to the yogurt melts.

My wife tells me that she runs out overnight and DS gets upset because there's nothing there for him. But who knows, she's half asleep also.
I went to the grocery store last night and bought a pack of StonyField baby yogurt. Thats the only kids brand they had - and it was 6 bucks! (Gristedes is the closest grocery store to me) Hopefully he'll like this better than the Fage.
Will look for the yogurt melts tonight on my way home if I get out of work early enough

She might just have a slower let down at night. I know sometimes it takes me a few minutes to get the milk flowing and DD gets frustrated and pulls away and yells. I just let her yell for a second and then put her back on the boob. It's tough though, I know, especially at night when all you want to do is get them back to sleep.
