School Fundraiser
Hi all,
I'm a teacher, looking to raise money to cut the cost of a trip to Albany we're taking in March.
Does anyone know of any fundraising that is especially successful/easy?
I was thinking the Worlds Finest Chocolate, but I've been reading reviews and it seems that the quality of the chocolate went down the tubes.
Any other suggestions?
Krispy Kreme? Yankee Candle?

The quality may have gone down, but people still buy that chocolate up like it's going out of style.
Plus it's cheap so it's not like people feel they have to spend a lot on something.
I'd go for that.

There was one I did years ago that was very successful- tubs of ready-made cookie dough that you put in your freezer. People bought those like hotcakes. http://www.riversweet.com/cookie.htm
There are citrus fundraisers too, and that may inspire the healthy-eating-after-the-holidays people! Plus, it's in season now. That company does fruit but I used another one called Indian River and their oranges were so good

School Fundraiser
What age?
We did a Lip Sync Battle - Teachers Vs. students and raised about $1000 through tickets sales and consessions. I teach HS.

Do you have an Applebee's nearby? I don't live on LI but ours opens for pancake breakfasts and I think it's pretty lucrative. You do need people to serve but since everyone gets pancakes and bacon it's pretty easy. Up here it's very popular with scouts, JROTC, and sports teams.

A lot of restaurants in our area have deals where a portion of proceeds can go to the fundraiser.
I think the chocolate is good - it has gone down but, it's still yummy =)

I agree with the restaurants. Find a local restaurant that will allow you to do a fundraiser where 20% of the of the total check will go to your charity. We do it a lot.

Not sure where in Nassau but, I just organized one for our PTA at BJ's Brewhouse - there is one in Valley Stream (it's not the one I used but, the process is all online and very easy).

Yes, the Applebee breakfast fundraisers are easy and can be lucrative. I also believe Chili's and California Pizza Kitchen will do fundraisers where you get a portion of the proceeds.

Chipotle gives 50%. I'd start there. Most other restaurants give 15-20%.

We did this and a 50/50 raffle at a local Applebee's to pay for graduation. It worked out so well that now it is a regular fundraiser. At the time we did it we got 75% back.

I just had some of those worlds finest candy bars, and the dark chocolate is really good. however, the bars are like half the size they used to be when I was in HS selling them. They are still $1.00 though.
Gertrude Hawk has school fundraisers. I just did one for my son's school. Sold $600 bucks worth of chocolate. Last year I sold $950 and was the top seller..lol.

I just ran one for my kids nursery school through yankee candle...the school gets 40% of the profits...it was extremely easy because most people did their orders online and shipped right to there house and we made a lot of money

Fun Pasta....the pasta is cute, tastes good, and profits are 40-50%. The pasta itself costs like $6, so it's not a $$$$ fundraiser to get people to buy. The candy bars are easy sellers I would go the Hershey's route though, World's Finest has gone down hill IMO.
The McDonalds, Panera, etc. fundraisers sound good, but do not raise much IMO. If I go to McDonald's, it's about $15 for our meals, and the school gets $1.50. Like someone else said, Chipolte does give 50% which is the highest I've seen. Applebee's is a TON of work.

Restaurant fundraisers do not make that much money. You would have to do alot of them.
Our HS does discount cards. They get the local businesses to agree to give discounts and they make a card and sell for $10. Those go like hotcakes. Yankee Candles or Mixed Bags always raises alot of money and our easiest is the sale of smecils. We raised over $1500 in 2 days just selling during lunch periods to the kids.

I forgot about Smecils, we do those also! Great sellers!!! Along with the Smens!
