WWYD- school teacher gifts..
DS is in kindergarten. so i'm new to the whole school thing he has his teacher, and a full-time aid in his room. I bought the teacher a $25 GC to Target, and the aid a $20 GC to Target..... because i didn't hear anything from the class mom about contributing to a class gift for them... WELL yesterday i got the email from the class mom that she is collecting $15 from each kid--- $5 to go for the teacher, $5 for the aid, and then $5 that will go to food and supplies for their holiday party... she said "if you've already gotten the staff something on your own, feel free to just send in the $5 to go toward the party." so should i just do that, OR its only $10 more, just send in the full $15 and get in on the class gift, too? for what its worth, his teacher has been amazing and he really is having a great year!!!

If you love the teacher that much just give your original gift. Otherwise do the class gift and save yourself the money! you could use the gift cards or gift to someone else.

I do both the class gift and an individual gift (but, we only collect $10 - $5 goes to the teacher and $5 gets split between everyone else - assistants, specials, office staff, etc).
ETA - We just got the letter emailed and it's $10.

The same thing happened to me last year. I loved his teacher so I just gave both.

Re: WWYD- school teacher gifts..
My DS is in 1st grade. Up until this year I have given to the class gift ($15) and spent another $25-$40 on a separate gift because I have LOVED his teachers. It was a pleasure to spend a little bit more on them to let them know we appreciated everything they were doing. They just went above and beyond in their jobs and I enjoyed looking for something extra for them.
This year, his teacher is awful! I mean I question if she even has a degree with some of the things she has done. So I was happy when someone sent a note asking to participate in a class gift and sent in $10. I can't justify spending more than that on her. I literally cannot find it in me to even put thought into anything for her.

WWYD- school teacher gifts..
Thanks, everybody!! i also forgot to say that in november for DS's birthday i went in and read a book to the class. The teacher mentioned how much she really liked the book and didn't have it... so i bought it for her/the class. that was about $10... (gave it to her already) SOOO i just emailed the room mom and said that i'm gonna skip the class gift bc i already bought the gift cards, as well as the book....
